Insights

  • Clarity > cleverness in a job search says recruiter Brooke Kruger in this podcast episode packed with tips for comms pros navigating the current job market. She also covers resume red flags and standing out on LinkedIn.

  • Gallup's annual State of the Global Workplace report finds global employee engagement dipped slightly from 23% to 21% in 2024. While Gallup frames the results starkly (e.g., "The global workplace is at a turning point"), there are some useful data points worth considering. Read the report here. (for a critical take on Gallup’s annual survey, read this post by comms expert Mike Klein).

  • "Employee surveys are great. They are just over-relied on," warns Korn Ferry's Maria Amato in this recent article from HR Brew. The piece explores the limits of engagement surveys (only 32% of workers think they're accurate) and suggests pairing them with other metrics for a fuller picture.

  • "The gap between the feedback leaders need and the feedback they actually hear represents one of the most significant...barriers to leadership effectiveness," says this HBR article, which offers practical advice on recognizing "hidden feedback" in the workplace.
