  • A study of 128 IC practitioners found that the ones saving the most time with AI — roughly half a working day per week — aren't doing anything dramatic. Small experiments, tried regularly, built into the work.

    More than 60% of teams surveyed had no formal AI training, despite being expected to use the tools. If that sounds familiar, you're in the majority — and the bar to start is lower than it may sometimes feel.

  • IC's cross-functional view. At a PRSA roundtable this month, three IC practitioners described the same thing: their strategic value comes less from the communications itself and more from the cross-functional view — connecting what's happening in HR, IT, leadership, and operations.

    With change management and governance on most agendas right now, that connective perspective is what gets IC into the room.

  • 80% of those who received meaningful feedback in the past week were fully engaged, per a 15,000-employee study from Gallup. What counted: recognition, current goals, collaboration, and strengths.

    Short weekly check-ins outperformed longer monthly ones. If you advise managers on how they communicate, this is a useful data point to share.

  • Anthropic interviewed 81,000 Claude users about what they want from AI. The most common answer was productivity. But when asked what that would give them, people got personal — time with their kids, fewer things to carry in their head, room to think.

    As a software engineer in Japan put it:

    "For the first time, I felt AI had surpassed human quality in a business task. That day I left work on time and picked up my daughter from daycare."

    The full Claude study is worth a read — especially if you're helping your organization understand why people adopt new tools, not just which ones.
