What caught our eye in jobs this week

Aon has a role built around the rules of internal communication. The Chicago brief covers standards, frameworks, and guardrails for high-profile colleague messages, including what leaders send and when.

B&M wants an IC manager who can run the function when the head of IC is away. The listing asks for content sign-off, stakeholder management, and enough operating judgment to keep a fast retail business moving.

NRG puts field communications on a weekly operating rhythm for 4,000 technicians. The role owns segmented plans, executive-ready updates, and the flow of information across a nationwide field operation.

Signals

AI is becoming a coworker trust issue. Founder Reports surveyed 2,078 U.S. workers: 77% review AI-assisted coworker work more carefully, and 45% have fixed or redone work that leaned too hard on AI.

Manager support is moving into the workflow. ServiceNow's new HRBP and manager experiences put talent analytics, policy answers, approvals, and manager recommendations inside the HR service layer.

Comms platforms are adding control, not just creation. Staffbase's Q2 release added AI content governance, email opt-out management, AI page generation, communities, and learning integration.

The intranet AI roadmap is ahead of adoption. Forrester evaluated 13 intranet vendors across 28 criteria, but only 17 of 35 reference customers were using vendor AI enough to discuss it.

AI notice language is becoming an IC deliverable. Connecticut added disclosure duties for automated employment tools, Illinois has proposed notice rules, and Colorado's amended AI law takes effect January 1, 2027.

Insights

Meaning belongs in the rollout

A 2026 Behavioral Sciences paper studied 168 Italian white-collar employees using AI and found that transparent communication, consultation, and training were linked to job satisfaction and performance, partly through work meaningfulness. Meaning belongs inside the rollout.

The listening gap is the last mile

Perceptyx's 2026 listening report shows a 20-point drop between results being shared and improvements employees can see: 71% say survey results are shared, 59% say action plans are created, and 51% say feedback led to improvements. That drop is where listening loses credibility.

Voice depends on visible rules

An Applied Psychology paper found that employees speak up more when leaders are transparent about how suggestions are endorsed, especially when those employees perceive themselves as lower status. More voice may start with showing the path from suggestion to decision.

The confidence gap is in the job descriptions

Recent role language is pulling IC toward leadership partnership and operating judgment. B&M asks its IC manager to deputize for the head of IC and sign off content; Benefit Cosmetics puts intranet governance, reporting, leader comms, and people-experience messaging in the same global brief.
