Technical Safety BC
Business Partner, Internal Communications and Engagement
Help employees understand the organisation’s priorities and connect with one another through internal and executive communications. At Technical Safety BC, an independent organisation overseeing the safe installation and operation of technical systems in British Columbia, this role combines communications strategy with hands-on delivery.
The work
Reporting to the Leader, Internal Communications and Engagement, you will help shape internal and executive communications strategy and turn organisational priorities and change initiatives into communications plans. The work combines advising leaders on messaging and timing with hands-on writing: executive messages, newsletters and accessible explanations of complex information, alongside managing intranet content and Teams.
Employee engagement is another part of the remit. You will lead activities such as town halls and Ask Me Anything sessions, including planning and delivery, and support engagement surveys, employee resource groups and communications that advance inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility. Channel data, content audits and feedback help guide improvements.
Working across the organisation also means supporting sensitive issues and crisis communications. Alongside that work, you will help leaders create opportunities for two-way dialogue and respond thoughtfully to employee feedback.
Requirements
- At least five years in communications, including experience planning and delivering internal communications, and a degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline.
- Strong writing and editing across executive and employee communications, presentations and digital content; experience advising leaders and building relationships across an organisation.
- Ability to take a communications strategy through delivery, with experience supporting change communications and handling sensitive information confidentially.
- Ability to interpret engagement data and employee feedback, manage competing priorities and create inclusive, accessible communications for employees with different needs and perspectives.

- Experience supporting issues management or crisis communications.
- Familiarity with Confluence, Teams, ContactMonkey, Canva or Microsoft Copilot.
- Experience creating visual content and making basic video edits.
