2027 Future Talent Program - Global Communications Intern (AI focus) - Intern
Merck’s Global Communications intern will join a small team designing, piloting and scaling AI tools for communicators. These include assistants that help leaders’ messages sound like them, draft announcements and build presentations.

The work
The intern will draft announcements, intranet features, newsletter items and success stories about the AI programme and its tools. They will also prepare onboarding notes, updates, quick-start guides and FAQs for pilot users, and develop presentations for sponsors, leaders, pilot sessions and showcases.
Working with communicators, technologists and subject matter experts, the intern will run structured tests of pilot tools and share what works and what falls short with the build team. The role also includes researching how peer companies and the broader industry communicate about AI, supporting the incubation team’s projects, and exploring potential AI agent use cases while contributing to early development and future priorities.
Requirements
- Currently in junior year or above while pursuing a college degree; a related field is preferred.
- Available full time from May through August 2027.
- Hands-on experience with at least one generative AI tool.
- Proficiency with Windows-based applications, including PowerPoint and Word.
Skills
Merck’s ideal candidate writes and edits clearly, explains technical topics in plain language to varied audiences, and is willing to flag when a tool gets something wrong.
Preferred qualifications
- AI coursework or projects, including prompt design or building custom assistants.
- SharePoint experience.
- Video, social media or presentation design experience.
