The work

The director works with executive, clinical and operational leaders to communicate organisational priorities to employees across locations and partnerships. The role advises leaders on messaging, timing, audience segmentation and change, and plans communications for enterprise initiatives covering culture, engagement and transformation.

An editorial calendar, channel governance and performance measures connect the work to organisational priorities. The director owns communications strategy for Microsoft 365 adoption and Workday implementation, and oversees and helps modernise internal channels, with a focus on Teams and SharePoint. The role also introduces interactive formats and uses analytics to improve communications.

The role also supports town halls, enterprise announcements and leadership forums. Communications must be accurate, accessible, on brand and ADA-compliant, and reach diverse workforce audiences, including people without regular digital access.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations or a related field.
  • Eight to ten years of progressive experience in internal communications, corporate communications or a related field.

Skills

The hospital asks for experience advising leadership at a senior level, managing or mentoring communications staff, and managing internal communications channels. The role also calls for strong written and verbal communication and hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, including Teams and SharePoint.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare or another complex, mission-driven organisation.
  • Familiarity with HR communications, employee engagement or change management.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, employee privacy and related communications considerations.
  • Familiarity with AI tools for communications, analytics and personalisation.
