The work

Regular field visits and feedback channels put the specialist in contact with craft professionals, foremen and supervisors. Through conversations, surveys, listening sessions and focus groups, the role gathers concerns and trends, helping identify issues before they become labour-management matters. The specialist communicates findings to Labor Relations leadership, keeps records of feedback and refers complaints and labour relations matters to the appropriate personnel.

The communications work covers bulletins, newsletters and project updates, as well as campaigns on project initiatives, attendance expectations, work rules and policy changes. The specialist also supports workforce information meetings and communication around concerns and their resolution.

The specialist coordinates recognition and milestone programmes, tracking engagement programme participation and effectiveness. The role also supports new-hire orientation and onboarding communications, helps maintain relationships with local labour organisations and helps coordinate communications during workforce mobilisation and major project milestones.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or international equivalent and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to build trust with craft professionals and field supervision.
  • Experience facilitating meetings, presentations or workforce communications, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred qualifications

  • A degree in communications, human resources, labour relations, business administration, organisational development or a related field.
  • Experience on large industrial, energy, EPC or construction projects.
  • Familiarity with union construction environments and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience in workforce engagement, employee relations, change management or organisational communications.
  • Knowledge of construction craft workforce culture and workforce development programmes.
